Michigan State determined to honor Delvon Roe on senior day

No. 6 Michigan State had no trouble dispatching Nebraska Saturday. But finding a way to get Delvon Roe on the court for its upcoming senior day is proving far more difficult.

Roe ended his basketball career in September due to chronic knee pain. The 6-9 senior was a warrior on the court – he was rarely at full health during his career, but started 83 of 109 games in his Spartan career and remains popular with his teammates.

That’s why coach Tom Izzo asked the school to consider allowing Roe to dress for the final home game of the season on March 4. Unfortunately, amateurism rules will prevent that.

“I think he deserved it,” Izzo told MLive. “I’m sure I would have done it because I appreciate the kid, but we can’t do it.”

But Roe will still be part of senior day, somehow. The aspiring actor just won’t be in an MSU uniform.
