NC State early leader for most ’12 McDonald’s All-Americans

The McDonald’s All-American game will have an N.C. State flavor this year.

Three of the Wolfpack’s 2012 recruits – Tyler Lewis, Rodney Purvis and T.J. Warren – landed spots on this year’s squad, the most of any college. Arizona and Kentucky both have two recruits on the 24-player roster, which were announced Thursday.

Of course, with five players still undecided on where they’ll be playing in 2012-13 – including No. 2 overall player Shabazz Muhammad – N.C. State may not stay the leader. (Not to mention one recruiting analyst questioning Lewis’ inclusion).

It should be noted that this isn’t necessarily a list of the 24 best high school players. Some five-year guys like Mitch McGary, Ricardo Ledo and Kaleb Tarczewski aren’t eligible and newly reclassified Nerlens Noel isn’t there because he switched too late.

But for now, coach Mark Gottfried deserves some praise for landing more burger boys than UNC or Duke.

The game is March 28 in Chicago. The full list of players and their college destinations is listed below.
