Monday’s slate and what to watch

Take a look at Louisville. The Cardinals (18-5, 6-4 in Big East) have won four straight and will welcome back center Gorgui Dieng for tonight’s home game against UConn.

Good thing, too. The schedule’s about to be brutal.

Games at West Virginia, Syracuse and Cincinnati loom in the next two weeks, which’ll certainly test how good that resurgent Cardinals defense is. The silver lining? Coach Rick Pitino says his team has fresh legs. That’ll be worked tonight.

(All times ET; TV info from HDSportsGuide.com)

Connecticut at Louisville, 7 p.m. (ESPN)
The Huskies (15-7, 5-5) ended a four-game skid on Saturday, its first outing without coach Jim Calhoun, who’s taking an indefinite medical leave of absence. Now’s when we’ll see if UConn can salvage its once-promising season, The Huskies’ guards better be ready for that pressure defense.

Missouri at Oklahoma, 7 p.m. (ESPNU)
The Sooners (13-9, 3-7) are probably better than their record indicates, but they’re starting to hit the skids. They’ve dropped four of their last five, including a pair of home games. That’s usually the one place Lon Kruger’s team has been able to win this season. Perhaps their best hope is that Missouri (21-2, 8-2) comes in overconfident and cocky after its impressive rally vs. Kansas on Saturday.

Stony Brook at New Hampshire, 7 p.m. (ESPN3)
It probably won’t be close, but it’s a good chance to see the America East’s best team. Keep the stream up online so you can see Stony Brook (15-7, 10-1) in action before it has its big showdown on Sunday against Vermont.

Texas at Texas A&M, 9 p.m. (ESPN)
The Longhorns(14-9) need this win. They need a good road win to bolster a sagging NCAA tournament résumé. This isn’t that win (and most of them have already gone by), but losing would be … problematic.
