Fans from Missouri, Kansas provide some rivalry chuckles

I’m gonna miss the Kansas-Missouri rivalry.

The Border War doesn’t resonate nationally like Duke-North Carolina or Kentucky-Louisville, but it’s provided some impressive vitriol through the years. Former Tigers coach Norm Stewart was always thorn in Roy Williams’ side (RE: 1997) and Jayhawks fans usually responded in kind.

Having the Kansas City area split among fanbases also doesn’t hurt. After all, fans are often the ones driving many of the feuds, sniping and bragging. They’re the ones who are there year-to-year.

It’s no surprise then that a Missouri video (replete with shots at Kansas) popped up last week. (Here’s a short feature on the kids in it.)

It earned a couple hundred-thousand hits in a few days, leaving Jayhawks fans to respond in kind.

The schools have played nearly 270 games in the last 100 years and have at least two remaining this season, starting this Saturday when Mizzou hosts Kansas.

After this season, it all goes away. Missouri’s heading to the SEC and Kansas isn’t interested in playing them anymore. These videos won’t cause either school to change its mind, but I can hope, right?
