March Madness is right around the corner. Once the Super Bowl ends, most every casual college hoops fan in the country tunes into the sport, mostly in an effort to brush on what’s happening so they can win their NCAA tourney pool.

But for those who follow the sport closely, they already know this season had the potential to be great. North Carolina, Ohio State, Baylor and Kentucky all returned star players who could’ve gone to the NBA. Syracuse was deep and talented. UConn added a lottery-pick talent it didn’t expect. Add it all up and there was potential to be a season for the ages.

It hasn’t quite been that way. Not that it’s been terrible, but we hoopheads had hoped for more.

So what’s the deal? Why isn’t there a dominant team? Pat Forde weighs in on SportsTalk.

(Just FYI, I’d classify Kentucky, Ohio State and Syracuse as damn close to being teams. All three are scary good and UNC can be.).
