North Carolina State didn’t have much go right against North Carolina.
The Wolfpack’s 74-55 loss was it lowest point total this season as they were unable to stick with the Heels inside – Tyler Zeller went for 21 and 17 – or during most of the second half.
But here’s something that did go their way.
That was guard Lorenzo Brown chucking the ball from 85 feet away and somehow banking it in for what’s sure to be one of shots of the season. (Brown finished with nine points, all on 3s.)
Beyond that, it was all UNC. Not that’s it was a surprise, even with Dexter Strickland on the bench.
The Heels (17-3) showed no signs of missing their starting off-guard, who tore his ACL in Sunday’s win against Virginia Tech. The injury gave sophomore Reggie Bullock – a better shooter and scorer, but weaker on defense – a chance to make his first start, and he responded with 11 points in 33 minutes.
Bullock has a few more games to adjust to life as a starter, too. The Heels’ next three games are vs. Georgia Tech, at Wake Forest and at Maryland before playing host to Duke on Feb. 8. None of those three have winning conference records, while the Jackets and Deacons might be the league’s two worst teams.
Just watch out for the looooooong shots.
