Jordan Hulls ‘fine’ after figuring out his free-throw issues

Jordan Hulls says his free-throw woes are over. Phew. I was getting worried things were about to get strange.

The Indiana junior set a Big Ten record earlier this season with 58 consecutive made free throws (spanning this season and last), but somehow had missed four of his last six attempts when he botched the first two Sunday against Penn State.

Yeah, it was strange. Hulls has only missed four freebies all season (and is pretty fair from beyond the arc, too, hitting 58 percent). But then he made a correction and sank his next seven.

So what happened? Terry Hutchens from the Indianapolis Star found out:

“I was finishing out instead of up,’' Hulls said. “That’s why I was hitting the back rim all of the time. But I figured it out and now I’m fine.

“It’s always frustrating to miss free throws because they’re free. But we got the win and that’s all I’m happy about.”

Crean says Hulls has a tendency to spend too much time thinking about his misses. That’s easy to understand when they don’t happen very often.
