Ryan Boatright suspended for six games

The Ryan Boatright saga is officially over.

Late on Friday night, the NCAA officially ruled that Boatright would be suspended for six games. The freshman point guard will make the trip with UConn to the Bahamas, joining his team for the third game of the trip on Nov. 26th. If chalk holds in that tournament, UConn will be playing Florida State, their first ranked opponent.

UConn didn’t comment further on the cause of the suspension, but it has been reported that Boatright accepted a plane ticket from his AAU coach, Reggie Rose (Derrick’s brother), for a tournament in California.

With Boatright unavailable, Shabazz Napier has played the majority of the minutes at the point for UConn. He had 21 points in each of UConn’s first two wins, but after an eight assist performance in the opener, he’s had just four assists -- and six turnovers -- in the last two games.
