Christian Laettner is a brave man. I think.
The former Duke star is on top of pretty much anyone’s “most hated” college hoops list for various reasons. Teammates said he could be jerk and he looked like a guy who could steal your girlfriend.
Plus, he was an exceptional player. That’ll make everyone but your own fans hate you.
But he holds a special hated place in every Kentucky fans’ heart.
Everyone knows about his game-winning shot in the 1992 East Regional final that capped one of the greatest games in college hoops history. But that was just rubbing it in.
Earlier in the game, Laettner did this. And Kentucky fans haven’t forgot.
So when Kentucky was searching for a “coach” for the opposing team in its “Kentucky Legends vs. UK Villains” game, there was only one solution. And it sounds as if it’ll actually happen. From Matt Jones:
The response is exactly what you’d expect. If Laettner actually coaches that game (players are still being rounded up), it’ll go down as a brilliant moment in publicity stunts. I just hope Kentucky fans have a sense of humor. Maybe this’ll help.
