Kevin Parrom kept his sense of humor after being shot early Saturday morning, cracking a joke on Twitter with former Pac-10 rival Isaiah Thomas.
Arizona coach Sean Miller had a terser take on the incident.
“Kevin, first and foremost, is fortunate to be alive,” Miller said in a statement released by the school Tuesday. That’ll help set the tone for Parrom’s rehab.
The 6-6 wing, as first reported by Adam Zagaoria, was shot in the right leg by a man who may have been mad about the female company Parrom was keeping. The junior was treated and eventually headed back to school where he’ll be assessed by team doctors. He’ll miss the start of basketball practices on Oct. 14.
“He will return to classes this week and also begin his rehabilitation process. We will know a lot more about his return to basketball activities in a month. At this time our focus is to provide him a comprehensive support system to allow him to progress to his full potential,” Miller said.
Guessing Parrom’s teammates have all been instructed in the last few days how to behave off the court.
