A Ben Stiller movie about Caltech’s losing streak? I’d buy tickets

They’ve already made a documentary about the futility Caltech hoops endured. Now that one of history’s most absurd losing streaks is over, the Beavers may get the Hollywood treatment.

And cross your fingers that Ben Stiller takes a starring role. That could be comic gold.

Stiller’s part of a group that’s reportedly producing a feature-film adaptation of the 2007 documentary, with “Moneyball” writer Stan Chervin taking crack at the script. If Stiller’s involved, there’s a good chance it won’t have the G-rated aspects of the “Mighty Ducks” movies or the quirky feel-good ending of “Cool Runnings.”

Nope. I’m picturing Stiller in full flabbergasted mode, trying to lead a bunch of brainiacs to a much-needed victory that never comes. At least until the closing credits, that is.

Then everyone wins.
