UNLV fan makes faux Nike ad spot for 2012’s top recruit

The odds of UNLV convincing hometown talent Shabazz Muhammad – the top prospect in the class of 2012 – to play college hoops in Las Vegas seems unlikely. Everyone wants the talented lefty.

Kentucky, Duke, Kansas, North Carolina, Arizona, Louisville, Memphis and UCLA have all extended scholarship offers. The Bruins reportedly have the inside track, but Muhammad dispelled that rumor earlier this month.

So UNLV fans have nothing to lose, right? At least that’s what Josh Meeter thought when making this faux spot.

As Ryan Greene of the Las Vegas Sun notes, it’s a spinoff from the Jordan Brand’s “Become Legendary” campaign that ends with the “Just Do It” branding. Meeter, who works as an art director, certainly made it glossy and impressive.

As for Muhammad, UNLV even got some promising news when he tweeted Sunday night that he’d be spending time in California with longtime friend Bryce Jones. Jones just so happened to transfer from USC to UNLV this summer.

That’s enough to get any Rebel fan’s hopes up.
