Xavier adds forward depth in Vandy transfer Walker

One of the only things missing from Xavier last season – depth -- shouldn’t be an issue in 2011-12. Not with yet another player added to the roster.

Vanderbilt transfer Andre Walker will head to Xavier, according to Jeff Goodman of CBSSports.com. The 6-7 forward will be eligible to play immediately because of an NCAA rule that allows players to transfer if they graduate in four years, have a year of eligibility left and pursue an area of study not offered at their previous school.

He chose Xavier over Northwestern, Wichita State and Marquette.

Walker will compete with Justin Martin (who sat out last season for academic issues) and Monmouth-transfer Travis Taylor for the starting power forward spot left by graduated senior Jamel McLean.
