Calipari to locked-out NBA alums: Lexington’s available

Attention all Kentucky alumni affected by the NBA lockout: John Calipari wants you to know Lexington’s available for all your workout needs.

The Wildcats coach announced via his Facebook and Twitter accounts that he’s offered up UK facilities for use. As a nod to higher learning, he also offered up assistance for getting a degree.

“I reached out to every former Wildcat that’s in (the) NBA and having to deal with this lockout to make sure they knew the Joe Craft Center is available to train if needed,” Calipari wrote on his Facebook wall. “If they want to finish up some school work while in Lexington, we will help with that as well. We just want to make sure all our players know that it’s all about family here at UK.”

Seventeen former Kentucky players are in the NBA, including last year’s No. 1 overall pick John Wall. But Calipari’s message isn’t intended only for them.

More than a few potential recruits will see the invitation, notice all the pros and take note for their future. Not that Kentucky really needs this as an added recruiting boost…
