‘Kyle Gets Buckets 2.0' a sequel that’s worthy of summer

Kyle really does get buckets.

The last time we saw Kyle Singler record a trick shot video, he’d just started his senior season at Duke. So what better way to cap his senior year than to record a sequel that tops the original? (OK, maybe another NCAA title would’ve been better, but hey, roll with me.)

“Kyle Gets Buckets 2.0” features the 6-8 forward making shots from a bus, off various bounces and ricochets, from midway down a high dive – no joke – and two ridiculous shots from the top of Duke Chapel, the school’s towering centerpiece.

As for the “Chapel Shot,” Singler needed some clearance from the “very upper levels of the university,” according to Dave Bradley, Duke’s recruiting and communications coordinator. One they “said it was cool,” it meant trekking to the top of the chapel’s 210 feet with 15 balls.

Whoa, what? Only 15 attempts to make that shot? It takes some of the other various trick shot video guys 50,60 or 70 attempts to make those kinds of heaves. It showed at the start when he missed his first three. But Singler made his fourth off the bounce, much to Bradley’s amazement. Then he swished the next attempt. Back-to-back makes? Unreal.

“It was shocking,” Bradley told the Duke Chronicle. “It made no sense.”

Next up? Translating those shots into becoming a first-round pick in the NBA draft. After this video, that seems pretty easy.
