Another summer, another UNLV star in trouble

This isn’t what UNLV fans wanted to read. Another summer featuring legal issues with a Rebel basketball player.

Forward Chace Stanback, the team’s leading returning scorer and rebounder, was arrested Friday for suspicion of driving under the influence in Las Vegas, Ryan Greene of the Las Vegas Sun reported. Stanback’s out of custody and scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 11.

The team has yet to take any disciplinary action.

“We do know that there was an incident, and we are trying to determine when it happened and what transpired,” new UNLV coach Dave Rice told Greene.

The 6-8 Stanback averaged 13 points and 5.9 rebounds a game as a junior.

Last summer, guard Tre’Von Willis, the team’s best player, was arrested after a domestic dispute in Henderson, Nev. He reached a plea deal and was suspended for four games..
