Xavier’s frontcourt just got huge.
The Musketeers picked up a commitment from 7-foot-5, 350-pound Sim Bhullar, a 2012 prospect out of Huntington Prep (W.Va.), according to Jeff Borzello of CBSSports.com. Can’t wait to read the size puns from Cincinnati newspapers once he arrives on campus in two years.
Bhuller’s no joke, either. He impressed scouts last summer at the FIBA tourney thanks to his surprisingly good hands and passing ability. His stamina and mobility are issues – and likely always will be – but his skills have improved greatly during the past few years. And his size is obviously a factor.
“I think I bring a great inside presence, both on offense and defense,” Bhullar told Borzello. “I can dominate the opposing big men, and make sure no one scores on my end with blocks.”
Bhuller and his younger brother, Tanveer, transferred to Huntington last winter. (Sim’s younger brother, Tanveer, is a 7-3 center from the class of 2013 and said to be more talented than his brother.) By the time he graduates and arrives at Xavier, he could be ready to make an instant impact and be a force in the Atlantic 10.
“I think I’m gonna come in and surprise a lot of people and make a huge impact for the Xavier basketball program,” he told Borzello.
