Larry Brown at UNLV? Well, not so much

It’s not really a coaching search unless Larry Brown’s in the mix, right? Well, consider that crossed off for UNLV.

The Rebels are expected to finalize their new coach Sunday or Monday. Four candidates – BYU assistant Dave Rice, ex-New Mexico State assistant Reggie Theus, ex-Oregon coach Ernie Kent and St. John’s assistant Mike Dunlap – are being considered.

Brown? He’s talked to UNLV athletic director Jim Livengood about the job, but that’s it. Don’t expect to go any further, either. Las Vegas Sun reporter Ryan Greene says the school turned Brown down about a week ago.

If Brown wants back into coaching, it’ll have to be somewhere else.
