One coach still thinks Ohio State and Kansas are better than Connecticut, NCAA tournament results be dammed.
Northern Arizona coach Mike Adras, one of 31 voters in the USA Today/ESPN coaches’ poll, tabbed the Buckeyes No. 1 and the Jayhawks No. 2 in the final coaches’ poll. UConn was third.
“I voted for who I thought was the best team in the country based on the entire body of work during the season,” Adras told USA Today. “I believe it is Ohio State. I want to congratulate Connecticut for winning the NCAA tournament. They deserved it.”
Too they didn’t deserve his vote as the top team.
The final coaches’ poll – a completely useless exercise anyway, given it has no relevance on the national champion’s status – ended up having UConn as No. 1, ahead of Butler, Kentucky, Kansas and Ohio State.
So take a bow, coach. You’ve told everyone that UConn’s the best tournament team, but not the best team (or the second best).
If they insist on having a postseason poll, why can’t this kind of nonsense stick to football?
