Kentucky’s freshmen not thinking NBA just yet

John Calipari’s coached six one-and-done players in the last four seasons. Brandon Knight and Terrence Jones could join that list.

Knight, Jones and fellow freshman Doron Lamb didn’t comment about their Kentucky future after a 56-55 loss to Connecticut on Saturday. That’s the last thing on their mind for now.

From the Louisville Courier-Journal:

Jones, who had 11 points and 15 rebounds, bristled when asked if he just played his last game for the Wildcats.

“I don’t know. It’s the last game this season,” he said. “… This is the last time this group will be together.”

Knight and Lamb had similar reactions, to the point that Knight abruptly shut down that line of questioning. Jones added that he wasn’t “worried about that NBA stuff.”

Calipari isn’t counting on them staying. He has another top-rated recruiting class entering Lexington next season, including four McDonald’s All-Americans. But if he had his way, they’d all be in Kentucky blue next year.

“Man, I wish this was the ‘70s (and) I had these guys for three years, we wouldn’t lose any games,” Calipari said Friday.
