Politicians’ wagers for Butler-VCU solid; Kentucky-UConn? Not so much

The governors of Connecticut and Kentucky went small-time with wagers related to their teams in Saturday’s Final Four. The Indianapolis and Richmond mayors did the opposite.

If Butler wins, Richmond mayor Dwight C. Jones has pledged two tickets to a Pablo Picasso exhibit at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, including a stay at the historic Jefferson Hotel.

If VCU wins, Indianapolis mayor Greg Ballard will give two tickets to the Brickyard 400, with a two-night hotel stay, according to the Indianapolis Star.

Contrast that to the governors’ bet – ice cream from the University of Connecticut’s dairy bar vs. a country ham from Kentucky – and the mayors did themselves proud.
