Missouri’s not the only school trying to chase down a coach.
Wyoming’s set to interview Florida assistant Larry Shyatt and could be introduced as the team’s new coach by Friday, CBSSports.com’s Gary Parrish reported.
It would be Shyatt’s second stint at the school. He went 19-9 during the 1997-98 season, then bolted for Clemson. But he laid the foundation for the school’s back-to-back Mountain West titles in 2001 and 2002 by recruiting the likes of Josh Davis, Ugo Udezue and Paris Corner. (Cowboys fans know the names even if you don’t.)
Since leaving Wyoming, Shywatt coached Clemson from 1998 to 2003, but never reached the NCAA tournament. He was an assistant with Florida during the Gators’ 2006 and 2007 title runs.
If Shyatt passes, Wyoming can still turn to Old Dominion coach Blaine Taylor, who interviewed with the school last week.
And yes, the school would get a huge boost with either coach.
