Wisconsin’s Ryan not the unluckiest coach in March

Think Bo Ryan’s had tough luck in March? Well, you’re right.

The Wisconsin coach hasn’t missed the NCAA tournament since he’s been in Madison, but his Badgers have lost to a team seeded at least five spots lower in four of the past five seasons, the latest coming to Butler on Thursday.

Then again, it could be worse. Ryan could be one of these 10 snakebitten coaches.

The guys over at Lost Lettermen compiled a list of the coaches who’ve had trouble either winning consistently (Mark Few), getting to the Final Four (Jamie Dixon) or not at all (Oliver Purnell). They don’t shy away from guys who’ve won, either. Jim Boeheim and Tubby Smith both make the list.

Fair? Probably not. But it’s fodder for arguments. And … go!
