VCU’s loving its role as the underdog du jour of the 2011 NCAA tournament. But unlike other surprising teams in the Sweet 16, the Rams might actually stick around for another round.
Richmond plays Kansas. Butler faces Wisconsin. Neither are appealing matchups for Michael Ventre, who tabs VCU as the team most likely to continue its season.
Sure, Marquette and Florida State are double-digit seeds. But they hail from the Big East and ACC, which automatically excludes them from any sort of underdog talk. That leaves VCU. The Rams are hot and have a favorable matchup with the Seminoles.
That should be enough for a team from “Hooptown USA.”.
