‘Nova ‘not going to talk ... just going to prove ourselves’

Villanova’s lost five straight and seven of its last nine.

As a result, not much is expected of the Wildcats during the NCAA tournament. Not that the players mind. In fact, it might just provide the spark they need. From CSNPhilly:

“Yeah, you’re always going to get that,” Corey Fisher said Thursday. “If we would have won (a couple more) games, then you might hear, ‘Villanova can win this, can win that.’ But you can’t get into that. You can’t control that, what anybody is saying on the outside.

“We played good all year, and we struggled down the end, losing a couple games. We know how good we are, and that’s all that really matters. ... We’re not going to talk. We’re just going to prove ourselves.”

That’s a promising sign for a struggling team.

When ‘Nova faces 8th-seeded George Mason Friday, it remains a talented team capable of pulling off a first-round win and even giving No. 1 Ohio State a tough game in the second round. As long as they maintain any of that confidence, the Wildcats are dangerous.

And probably due.
