K-State keeps winning -- but Texas is looming

Kansas State’s officially back from the dead.

The Wildcats ripped off their fourth straight win – and sixth of its last seven -- by handing No. 20 Missouri an 80-70 loss. Now 20-9 overall and 8-6 in the Big 12, they’re tied with Missouri for fourth place in the conference.

A month ago that didn’t seem possible. Turns out the NIT is a powerful incentive. Especially for Jacob Pullen.

Pullen paced the ‘Cats with 24 points. He’s averaging 29 an outing during their streak – and is reason No. 1 why K-State went from the walking dead to the land of the living and the NCAA tournament. He’s been aggressive on defense and confident with his shot, two things that didn’t happen early in the season.

Next up is the biggest test of all: Texas.

If Pullen can find his groove against the nasty Longhorns defense, perhaps we’ll be able to elevate K-State from simply returning to secured NCAA tournament status to something that were touted as before the season.

A possible Final Four team. Doesn’t seem possible, right? Well, neither did this recent run.
