Tuesday’s slate and what to watch

They could be celebrating in Conway, S.C., tonight. If Coastal Carolina beats UNC Asheville, it’ll clinch its second straight Big South title and set a school record for most conference wins in a season.

The Chanticleers (25-3 overall, 15-1 in Big South) already grabbed share of the title, but would join Vermont, Fairfield, Belmont, Long Island, Bucknell, Oakland and Utah State as outright champs with the win.

Man, March really is near. (7 p.m. ET)

(All times ET)

Michigan State at Minnesota, 9 p.m. (BTN): Few games have larger bubble implications this week. The Spartans (15-11, 7-7) have won two of their last three, and the loss was an impressive showing at Ohio State, giving off the impressive they’re on the right track. Credit Kalin Lucas for that. Conversely, the Gophers (17-9, 6-8) have dropped five of their last six. They haven’t been the same since PG Al Nolen got hurt and could see their Big Dance hopes go bye-bye.

Illinois at Ohio State, 7 p.m. (ESPN): While the Buckeyes (25-2, 12-2) are trying to fend off Purdue for the Big Ten title, the Illini (17-10, 7-7) are doing their usual late-February swoon. This is one of two regular season games that give them chances for marquee wins that’ll impress the NCAA tournament seeding committee.

Tennessee at Vanderbilt, 9 p.m. (ESPN): The Vols (16-11, 6-6) remain one of the nation’s most perplexing teams. They’ve beaten Pitt, lost to Charlotte. They’ve beaten Villanova, lost to Arkansas. Beating the Commodores (20-6, 8-4) at home and after they’ve won five straight? Yeah, that’d fit in with Tennessee’s season.
