Friday’s slate and what to watch

This isn’t your usual Friday night in college hoops. The Ivy League has some company. Hope you’re ready.

(All times ET)

Connecticut at Louisville, 9 p.m. (ESPN): Kemba Walker’s right again. His 31-point, 10-assists performance in Wednesday night’s win vs. Georgetown showed why he’s the front-runner for Big East player of the year. Also, the guy can make the best of the trickiest situations. He’d best be prepared for Louisville’s pressure D, though. The Cardinals will be out for blood after stumbling at Cincy.

VCU at Wichita State, 7 p.m. (ESPN2): VCU’s trying to convince people it’s the CAA’s second-best team, but two-straight losses – including a 20-point whacking by George Mason Tuesday night – is making it tough. A trip to Wichita State may not help, either. The Shockers (22-5, 13-3) are fiends on the glass and force teams to play mistake-free.

Kent State at Drexel, 7 p.m. (ESPNU): Did you know Kent State won at least 20 games every season between 1999 and 2008? And that the Golden Flashes are headed for at least 20 again this season? Yet because they’ve only won three NCAA tournament games in that span, they’re not as highly regarded as other mid-major powers like Xavier or Gonzaga. Show ‘em some respect. Give ‘em a watch tonight.
