Essential reading for Duke-North Carolina tonight

Everyone caught on yesterday’s game? Get your fill of box scores and tidbits? Good.

‘Cause it’s time to hype up North Carolina vs. Duke.

I know, it’s one game that doesn’t need any excess hype, but I can’t help it. I’m pumped for what we’re presenting for your perusal.

The first is Davis Hess’ story. He makes the case – and backs it with statistical evidence – that while the Tar Heels may be ranked lower in the polls, they’re actually playing better than Duke right now.

As you can guess, it relates to Kendall Marshall’s role as the new starting point guard. But I don’t want to spoil the fun. Go read it here.

Meanwhile, Ken Davis weighs in on the absence of Duke point guard Kyrie Irving, who won’t be playing because of that nagging toe injury.

It’s common knowledge that the Devils are a different (read: better) team with Irving running the show, so Ken takes us through the reasons why and how the injury relates to other teams who dealt with injuries to star players in the past, such as Purdue and Robbie Hummel last season.

It’s good stuff. Enjoy!
