This is a storyline Homer would love.
Three UCLA players are dating USC students, adding a little fuel to their crosstown rivalry, which resumes tonight. If there’s a little more jawing than normal between the Trojans and Bruins center Anthony Stover, you’ll know why.
Not that Stover’s girlfriend is above a little ribbing herself.
“She was at the SC game wearing her big SC shirt,” Stover told the L.A. Times of the Bruins’ Jan. 9 loss to USC. “She made sure I saw it right after we lost, so I’m making sure we get this win so we have something to say back to her.”
The other two who date USC students are the Wear twins, Travis and David. The redshirt forwards won’t play tonight.
Still, Stover downplays the whole thing. But if UCLA wins, I’d expect a little gloating.
“It’s not very awkward,” Stover told the paper, adding that he expects his girlfriend to sit with his parents. “It’s a little competitive. We talk a little smack back and forth, but it’s just all out of fun.”
