Washington’s going to ‘take it out on the Oregon schools’

Uh, oh. Washington State may have just made life miserable for Oregon and Oregon State.

The Cougars’ impressive 87-80 win against Pac-10 leader Washington on Sunday wasn’t a shocker like Stanford’s win over the Huskies two weeks ago. The Cougs are a far superior team than the Cardinal and have one of the conference’s top players in Klay Thompson.

But it didn’t sit well with Washington.

“We don’t need to panic,” UW guard Isaiah Thomas told the Seattle Times. “Just need to try and not let this loss turn into two. We got two road games coming up and we just got to be smart, be a mature team and have a short memory and take it out on the Oregon schools.”

Thomas (just 3 of 13 from the field with seven turnovers vs. Wazzu) has the goods to back up that kind of talk, and he’s probably smart to set the bar high for his team. The Oregon schools stink, but both have solid home performances this season.

Oregon State’s beaten Arizona, ASU and USC, while Oregon’s taken down USC and nearly knocked off Missouri.

I’m taking notes, Isaiah. Eager to see how a “motivated” UW team plays.
