You wanna be a college basketball writer? Awesome. With 344 D-I men’s teams, there’s always something to write about.
One problem: It’s essentially a niche sport until March. That means prominent teams and established writers dominate the discussion until the Madness rolls around. So how’s a young writer supposed to make their mark?
Kudos to Matt Norlander on this one. He’s giving four young writers a platform to do just that.
Norlander got a blogging gig at CBSSports.com in December as one of their three new college hoops writers. As a result, his hoops blog, College Hoops Journal, has been largely dormant except for the occasional excellent podcast or two. (Like this one.)
But instead of allowing his “baby” to die a slow death, he took it a different direction and added four promising young writers to the mix. From here on out, they’ll be doing the bulk of CHJ’s posts. (You can read more about the four and their credentials here.)
Well done, Matt. We should all be so good.
