Fla. Gulf Coast women shoot record 55 3-pointers

My favorite box score of the night isn’t Pitt-Syracuse or Kansas-Baylor.

It belongs to the Florida Gulf Coast women.

The Eagles set a D-I record by attempting 55 3-point attempts in an 87-52 win against Mercer Monday night. Yes, 55. They made 20, good for 36.4 percent on the night. Nine players attempted at least one 3 and six made at least one, led by Eglah Griffin (7 of 12).

That, dear reader, is a way to ensure victory.

It’s nothing new to unbeaten FGCU, which leads all women’s teams in 3-pointers made and attempted per game.
