A Washington basketball player is under investigation for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl, according to a King5 report. He became friends with the girl on Facebook, then reportedly met up with her Saturday night. The Seattle police department met with her, but did not comment on the story.
The player was not named in the report.
The school released this statement:The department of intercollegiate athletics has learned of a police investigation based on allegations surrounding a current UW student-athlete.
At this time, the university does not have comment on the matter.
Furthermore, neither department officials, nor members of the UW men’s basketball coaching staff or team will comment on the matter at [Tuesday’s] open media session.
Questions regarding the investigation should be directed to the Seattle Police Department.
