Devoe Joseph’s decision to transfer out of Minnesota just took an even more confusing turn.
The junior guard left Minnesota about a week ago. He was the team’s fourth-leading scorer despite being suspended for the first six games of the season.
As first reported by ESPN.com’s Diamond Leung (I think that can officially be classified as Diamond’s first scoop), Joseph will be headed to Oregon next season. That’s right. Joseph left a top 25 team in the middle of his junior season to transfer to a program that is in the throes of rebuilding to play essentially half of a season.
Yeah, that’s less than ideal, especially for a kid of Joseph’s talent. He’s a former Canadian prep player of the year, the older brother of Texas’ Cory Joseph, and the same guy that carried the Gophers to the Big Ten Tournament title game last season.
He must have been pretty miserable under Tubby Smith.
