Hang on everyone, President Obama wants to talk to me

President Obama is a little busy this time of year. But he’s always got a few minutes for old friends.

Especially when those old friends re-write the record books.

Not long after the Connecticut women’s basketball team won its 89th consecutive game Tuesday night, coach Geno Aureimma halted his postgame press conference to take a phone call. You can guess who was on the other end.

The Huskies have been to the White House twice since Obama was elected and even shot some hoops back in 2009. He “won” the game of P-I-G. Thus, the joke between he and Auriemma.

“Well, Mr. President, I really appreciate that. It’s an incredible thing that these kids have done and we owe you a little bit of gratitude,” Auriemma added. “That lesson you gave on the White House basketball court really paid off. So, I appreciate you doing that for them.”

The zinger at the end of the press conference was pretty good, too. Auriemma certainly doesn’t lack for confidence.
