Shoot 61.4 percent as a team and lose? Ouch

Sometimes it’s not enough to hit your shots. Gardner-Webb found that out Thursday night.

Actually, the Bulldogs split the Four Factors and shot 61.4 percent from the field, but still lost during a 90-82 to Elon. According to ESPN.com, that’s the highest shooting percentage by a losing team this season AND last season. (Penn made 61.0 against Harvard.)

GW coach Chris Holtmann blamed his team poor defense.

“But we weren’t really as active or aggressive on defense as we certainly needed to be,” Holtmann told the Times News. “Give Elon credit, they made a lot of plays. They made open shots and moved the ball and made it difficult for us.”

Couldn’t have been that difficult, coach. You did shoot lights out…
