That’s more like it. After a quiet night in college hoops, Tuesday offers up a tasty slate of games, headed by the Jimmy V Classic and a handful of in-state, non-conference showdowns. Get your TiVo handy. (I’m looking at you, Dauster.)
Two Top 15 matchups: No. 13 Memphis plays No. 4 Kansas, followed by No. 7 Michigan State against No. 8 Syracuse (both are on ESPN). That’s an impressive one-two punch. And one that’ll have about 30 NBA scouts in attendance. The Spartans (6-2) have played a nasty schedule thus far, while the Orange (8-0) have four wins by six points or less. Except another tight game.
Same goes for the Jayhawks (7-0), who haven’t played since getting a scare Thursday against UCLA. that Memphis (7-0) has far more talented players than the Bruins, which should make Bill Self’s team a little worried.
Pick a showdown, any showdown: Georgia’s at Georgia Tech. Northern Iowa’s at Iowa. Purdue’s at Valpo. James Madison’s at Marshall and Lipscomb is at Austin Peay.
Five games between in-state teams, all within short drives of each other. I wouldn’t call ‘em rivalry games, but I would say all of ‘em are worth watching.
