How Duke’s Irving gets into overdrive

spt-101202-kyrie_standard

Now that we’ve established Kyrie Irving is the second coming, just how does the Duke freshman do what he does? You know, drive by defenders at will and get to the basket anytime he wants?

Let’s go to the video.

The Mikan Drill cut four videos of Irving against Michigan State, highlighting the three areas in which Irving excels: his first step, his hesitation move and his nasty crossover. It’s impressive, solid stuff and helps explain how the 6-1 point guard went for 31 points and hit 8 of 12 shots against the Spartans, who aren’t slackers on defense, either.

Man. That’s what I’d call a clinic. Opponents would be wise to study these videos.
