Kansas’ Morningstar got lucky in Las Vegas

Brady Morningstar’s such a good shooter, even his alley-oops go in the basket.

The Kansas senior spotted teammates Marcus Morris cutting to the basket during the Las Vegas semifinals Friday night against Ohio and chucked the ball toward the rim for an attempted oop. Except it was a little off – and swished instead.

“I mean we just ran this play. It was so wide-open. I wanted to throw it to him quick as I could. I kind of threw it too close to the rim, and it went in,” Morningstar told the Lawrence Journal-World.

The Jayahwks won the game 98-41 (and also beat Arizona Saturday night to win the event), which gave KU coach Bill Self a chance to laugh about the play afterward.

“Brady’s pass ... that was so awful. It was so bad it went in,” Self said. Hey, as Boris might say, “Whatever Works.”
