Louisville guard says hoops in China like ‘WWE Smackdown’

Think the Big East is rough? Think the Big Ten is physical? Those conferences can’t compare to playing in China.

Louisville guard Peyton Siva played nine games in China with Sports Reach USA in May. He says the fast breaks were like episodes of “WWE Smackdown.”

“I got literally clothes-lined a couple of times, and it was no foul,” he told the Louisville Courier-Journal. “If it was a fast break and I was going against a big man, he would grab my whole body and turn me around -- and it wasn’t a foul. You couldn’t really argue with them because they didn’t know what you were talking about.”

Siva didn’t fight back, though. He just got creative.

“I definitely had to learn different shots over there,” he said. “You had to learn a floater; you had to learn how to come off and shoot it over there.”
