Gonzaga pumped about BYU’s move to WCC

BYU hoops heads to the West Coast Conference in 2011. And Mark Few couldn’t be happier about it.

“It’s great for our league,” Few told FoxSports.com’s Jeff Goodman. “Anytime you can bring in someone to enhance the profile of your league, that’s a good thing.”

“BYU’s been in the top 25 the last four or five years and they have a resume to compete nationally. That’s a really good thing.”

Maybe Few’s been reading some excellent source material. The Cougars in the WCC is a classic win-win. They benefit from the move and the conference adds a major TV market and an excellent team.

Starting in 2012, the WCC will be at least a two-bid league to the NCAA tournament every season, and that’s thanks to BYU. Now the rest of the WCC can benefit.

“I’m one of those guys who thinks about the league and this is what’s best for our league,” Few told Goodman. “I think we enhanced our league with who we’ve added as much as anyone else has this offseason.”
