You don’t have to be old school to be a believer in those three college basketball truths. They’re correlated with Ken Pomeroy’s measure of “luck” and are seen as a big part of winning games.
But just how much?
Dan Hanner over at Yet Another Basketball Blog broke it all down - complete with the always-easy to ready scatterplots - using data from the last seven years and determined that there may not be as much luck involved with those three as one might think when it comes to winning teams.
In fact, there’s not a strong relationship between luck and any of the three.

So now what are fans going to blame losses on if it’s not bad luck? The ref?
