Most Facebook status updates are routine. Even John Calipari’s.
Except on Sunday. His update:
“Practice is underway as we prepare for our Canada trip & I’m pleased with the energy everyone brought. I do want to let you all know that junior Darnell Dodson will not be playing for UK this season. If Darnell, who is academically eligible, decides to return, he could practice with the team if he meets our standards.”
And that was it. As John Clay points out, this rumor had been floating around for a while. Dodson (6 points and 2.5 rebounds a game last season) had multiple attitude and off-court issues throughout last season. As Gary Parrish writes, he was simply a “headache.”
OK then. The Wildcats could’ve used Dodson’s athleticism and defensive ability, but it’s hard to imagine they’ll miss him too much.
There’s too much talent coming into Lexington for that.
