No reason for Izzo to ever leave Michigan State

The guys at The Only Colors probably frequently see stories - and love to read ‘em -- about Tom Izzo’s coaching contentment. When his name surfaced in the Oregon coaching search earlier this spring, a batch of popped up about why he loves MSU and how proud he is of his program.

Well, how about another? Brett McMurphy from FanHouse.com writes about how Izzo’s name keeps circulating in NBA rumors, yet he’s not planning on going anywhere. That’s how it goes when you’re one of the game’s best.

Then again, this part probably makes the Spartans faithful a little nervous (though they have read it before).

“I’ve never been one to say never,” Izzo said. “My good friend, Nick Saban ... they’re still hitting him on [saying] ‘I’ll never be the Alabama coach.’

“I don’t say that, but I’m happy where I’m at. It’s a compliment if people think you’re good enough to look at jobs, but I think my loyalty -- if people that are recruiting against me ever say he won’t be there, there are very few people that haven’t moved in 27 years.”

Yet, if Izzo hasn’t bolted for another job by now, what would make him leave in the future? It won’t be more money (he makes plenty). A “better” program? Like where? And the NBA? Those jobs are for suckers.

Never say never, Tom, but I find it hard to believe you’d ever leave.
