Kentucky lands second five-star commitment in two days

tbp_0227

For the second time in as many days, Kentucky landed a five-star prospect.

Ashton Hagans, a 6-foot-4 point guard that was previously committed to Georgia when Mark Fox was still head coach, announced on Tuesday morning that he will be committing to Kentucky.

Hagans is currently a member of the Class of 2019, but he is taking the necessary classes that would allow him to reclassify and enroll in school for this year.

Assuming that happens, he’ll be joining a recruiting class that already includes Keldon Johnson, Tyler Herro and Immanuel Quickly and a roster that will likely see Quade Green and Jemarl Baker return to school. Throw in Kentucky’s loaded front court -- E.J. Montgomery will be joining the roster alongside whichever Kentucky bigs opt to return to school -- and suddenly Kentucky has a team that is loaded with talent at seemingly every position once again.

Hagans himself is a big, athletic and competitive point guard who is at his best when he’s getting downhill and attacking the rim. He needs to extend his range, but given his ability to defend, he should be an instant impact player that can fill some of the void being left by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
