Marquette big man Luke Fischer made his Senior Day festivities particularly memorable on Saturday when he proposed to his girlfriend after the Golden Eagles’ important home win over Creighton.

Fischer scored 13 points and added four rebounds in the Marquette win on Saturday as he admitted in the postgame press conference that he planned the final parts of the proposal yesterday.

“Honestly, I kind of just decided it yesterday,” Fischer said. “Most of her family is in town and I had one chance to talk to her Dad, and so I did. My teammates have been teasing me for awhile about doing it tonight. It actually worked out to be the perfect time.”

That’s a rather brave admission from Fischer, who also acknowledged that he wasn’t going to propose after the game if Marquette had lost.

Thankfully, Marquette picked up a win that will likely put them in the NCAA tournament and Fischer gets a memorable Senior Day.
