Battle, who only had a pair of field goals (the first of which didn’t come until three-plus minutes into the second half) finished had 13 points. Andrew White III had a game-high 23. Jarron Blossomgame had 20 points in a losing effort.
The Orange, who were 3-4 in ACC play on Jan. 21, have now won five in a row, a streak that includes wins over Florida State and Virginia. While this run has not only skyrocketed the Orange up to fourth in the ACC standings (one and a half game behind North Carolina) it has also boosted their resume. Syracuse, as of Monday, was a projected No. 11 seed.
But Jim Boeheim and Co. still have their work cut out for them. While Clemson is a good road win, it should be noted that the other three notable wins during this streak -- Florida State and Virginia -- came inside the Carrier Dome. Syracuse made an improbable Final Four run a year ago. The faithful in central New York are likely envisioning another late-season surge, but let’s see what this team looks like after the gauntlet its set to face in the coming weeks.
The Orange’s remaining schedule is at Pittsburgh, at home against Duke and two meetings against Louisville and Georgia Tech.
That’s a slate that can certainly cool off one of the nation’s hottest teams.
