GAME OF THE NIGHT:

No. 7 Kansas 77, No. 1 Duke 75

Frank Mason hit a 15-foot jumper with 1.8 seconds remaining to give the Jayhawks the victory over the nation’s top-ranked team and avoid an 0-2 start for the Jayhawks. The Blue Devils were without Jayson Tatum, Harry Giles and Marques Bolden, but Luke Kennard came through with 22 points while Grayson Allen struggled to the tune of 4 of 15 shooting (1 of 7 from deep) and 12 points. Mason had 21 points while Kansas freshman Josh Jackson had 15.

IMPORTANT OUTCOMES

Baylor 66, No. 4 Oregon 49: This one says a lot more about the Bears than the Ducks, who were without the injured Dillon Brooks. But with big performances from Johnathan Motley, Manu Lecomte and Jo Lual-Acuil, Baylor announced itself as a player in the Big 12.

No. 2 Kentucky 69, No. 13 Michigan State 48: In a battle of teams relying heavily on freshmen, the Wildcats came out on top. Michigan State’s top freshman, Miles Bridges, struggled to score, going 2 of 11 from the floor while the rest of the Spartans couldn’t get going either. Isaiah Briscoe scored 21 points for Kentucky, but it was Malik Monk’s 7 of 11 3-point shooting and 23 points that stole the show.

No. 23 Creighton 79, No. 9 Wisconsin 67: It was a resounding win for the Bluejays, who showed they’ll be a contender in the Big East, while the Badgers showed some flaws. The Creighton backcourt of Maurice Watson, Jr. and Marcus Foster was as good as advertised while Khyri Thomas and Justin Patton were huge as well. Nigel Hayes and Bronson Koenig combined to go 14 of 32 from the floor for the Badgers.

Maryland 76, Georgetown 75: The Hoyas had this one won. Until they didn’t. The Terps came back from seven down with under 90 seconds to play to shock Georgetown in their own building - and celebrate there, too. Melo Trimble scored 22 points for the Terps.

STARRED

Jaylin Airington, CSU Bakersfield: Scored 31 points on 10 of 25 shooting in a loss to Arizona.

Rawle Alkins, Arizona: Tallied 15 points on 5 of 8 shooting - including a 4 of 6 from deep - while also grabbing four rebounds for a depleted Arizona squad.

Manu Lecomte, Baylor: One of the biggest questions surrounding the Bears this season was how they’d fill the point guard position, and the early returns suggest Lecomte, a Miami transfer, will be able to fill that roll perfectly. Against No. 4 Oregon, Lecomte had 18 points, seven assists and four rebounds.

Ray Bowles and Sami Eleraky, Green Bay: The Phoenix pair both had a double-double with Bowles scoring 10 and grabbing 11 rebounds and Eleraky also scoring 10 and grabbing 10 boards.

Jalen Ross, Hartford: Scored 35 points to help Hartford to an 82-78 overtime win early Tuesday morning.

Franko House, Ball State: Twenty-one points and 14 rebounds is impressive, even if it comes in an overtime loss to Indiana State.

Antonio Blakeney, LSU: Recorded 26 points, six assists and five rebounds in a win over Southern Miss.
