Dayton suffered a blow this weekend as Kostas Antetokounmpo was ruled a partial qualifier and will be ineligible to play for the Flyers this season.
A 6-foot-10 forward that played his high school ball in Wisconsin, Antetokounmpo is the younger brother of Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Milwaukee Bucks star forward.
Kostas will not be allowed to practice with Dayton until the second semester, although he will retain all four years of eligibility.
Without Antetokounmpo, the Flyers will have limited front court depth and experience. Their only front court piece that isn’t a freshmen or a sophomore is 6-foot-6 Kendall Pollard, and he’s more of a three than a four. Over the summer, sophomore center Steve McElvene tragically passed away due to an undiagnosed cardiac issue.
